Yesterday i played the indoor at Hilton Park and i had quite a good time. The games i played were all really good, the fields were ok and the reffing wasnt bad either, so no complaints there.

However..
In our division of 8 only 6 teams turned up, so we only had 5 games, and with indoor games being over so quick thats not really a lot of ball.

At least 5 teams didnt turn up, i know there were 2 in our div and two in div 4, and at least one in another div.
OK,I know some people had difficulties getting down due to the M1 being closed but i know that 3 of the teams for sure were not affected by this as i know where they were coming from.

What could have been / can be done about this? i hear you say...

Well maybe the organisers could have reseeded the divisions into 3 larger divisions, why this wasnt done i dont know. Maybe they can answer that. (Im not trying to blame them)
Maybe the organisers should name the offending teams (if they dont have a good explanation) as i know this tourney was oversubscribed and several teams were turned away. It might stop this happening again.

One criticism that is aimed at the organisers was the lack of kitting up area, last time i was at this site there was a marquee but not this time. We had difficulty finding space to kit up and had the 'missing' teams turned up i have no idea as to where they would have kitted up.

Thanks

I'm nothing to do with the Indoor set up, but I have worked plenty of tournaments so I know what the problems are in this situation.

A playing schedule isn't something you can knock up from scratch in 2 minutes, it takes a little time even when using decent software for it. In the vast majority of cases, the first you find out that a team isn't coming is when they aren't there in time for the first game. So the organisers would have to count the number of teams actually there, reseed into 3 divs and redo the schedule. And with 5 teams missing from 32 that would mean bigger divs of 9 instead of 8 which would make the rescheduling much harder.

And even then, I've had teams turn up late so they've missed their first game but been there for the rest, and with a rescheduling then they wouldn't have been included at all.

Hopefully the organisers were strict about insisting on deposits being paid, so the offending teams were hit in the pocket at least!

Thanks for those points Liz, Ive never had to seed or re-seed teams.
I was going to ask if seeding was computerised (i presumed it might be) but you answered it for me.

We all had to pay a deposit so yes the offenders would have been hit in the wallet.

However we had to pay all of our remaining entry and sign disclaimers before we could play so the organisers should have known who wasnt there.

I still think they could have done a reseed as with so many teams missing the schedule ran ahead of time.

When a team mate approached one of the organisers he was told 'you'll get a max for the no shows' which isnt the point, the point is that i and the rest of my team (and probably every team there) would much rather have played some more ball.

Again I know this isnt the fault of the organisers.

When we paid our deposit we were told HPG factory and Sabre weren't attending.

Which why MrDan is complaining about having so few games.

If you really were at the event, and both my team and yours missed out on another game then I see it as an even bigger organisational cock up!!!

Yeah Andy told me....
Thanks ;)

But we arent bothered about the points, we just felt like we didnt get enough games for our money.

To find out that we did have another game makes me feel very let down.
Beacuse it means the organisers couldnt even be bothered to inform us of changes to the schedule.
