I was wondering when this would come up.

I too am unhappy with this situation. If it had been made claer from the start, it would have been OK, but to add a charge 10 days before the event, with little or no alternative is a bit below the belt. I have emailed my opinion to Pheonix, and all I got was like it or lump it.

shame really, Pheonix have never done this before, and it's a great event. Lets hope it's worth the extra buck!!

While I think that the whole air thing is ridiculous for £400, the fact you have DOT bottles is your own fault, it's the law, not their rules.

You shouldn't be able to play ANY tournaments in the UK with DOT bottles, not just this one.

It seems that some of you are unhappy about being charged for the air and I would like to give you an explanation as to why you need to do this.
Firstly the original plan was to do the air ourselves as in previous years but we could only do this to 3000psi and queues for this were quite long last year, so after talking to teams it became clear that they wanted H-PAC to supply them, this is being subsidised by ourselves by 50%.
The £2.50 per player per day was calculated based on a 5 man team over 2 days which we think may have been misinterpreted. To clarify each team will need to pay £25 in total, this covers unlimited fills to 4500psi for ALL members of that team (up to 8) for the whole event (this includes Friday afternoon).
You are welcome to bring your own dive tanks but a 5 man team would probably use at least 4 tanks per day (which won't fill to 4500psi), you will probably find this will actually cost you more.

As for the issue with DOT bottles these should not be used at ANY UK tournament or site. H-PAC are only abiding by uk law, as we all have to.
