A major problem for indoor sites is they have to pay business rates on the premises which can destroy the profit line
An advantage of the indoor venue is that it can potentially be run 24/7
If the customers are there for the standard weekends, and they can add business in evenings and weekdays then they can be profitable
If they can't draw the customers in for the extra times on a regular basis then the additional rates will be a big drain
Having said that there are some good things being done in indoor sites
Airsofters get more choice on indoor venues as paintballs have to be cleared up and is not washed away / bio degraded as with outdoor venues
It's not only mess from paint but a real safety issue as floors suddenly become slippery
A while back there was a paintball event in the old reading shopping mall, this remains an airsoft venue but was an ice rink in minutes so will not have paintball again
You get some 'permanent' venues such as the bunker in Exeter and 'limited term' venues such as disused businesses which are available until demolition or redevelopment - this can take a period of time such as the airsoft reading shopping mall. There is a balance between a property owners income renting out to sites and the resale value or future business when redeveloped
In addition to indoor venues there are urban venues such as live army training areas being used for scenario games such as copehill down and sennybridge. There is also swynnerton, but that is more general spread about urban and not much indoors
Camouflage paintball had an indoor venue near andover, but this closed along with their outdoor sites
The indoor venue has been taken on by another paintball company and has 'open days' this weekend
I'm familiar with it under camouflage (as oblivion indoor paintball) but don't know what changes there are under the new management
