Yes buddy, they are good markers, with loads of aftermarket parts that you can upgrade with.
Since they have been about a while, theres lots of private label bodies, and NDz (www.Newdesignz.com) has come up with some top parts that really transform the impy. I have a strange impulse, mine does 290 - 295 on the Chronie, 20bps no problems, although it has cost me a fair bit to get it in a position where it can compete with newest of the markers out there.
If you just starting and don't have much cash to buy a supped up one, they're good to learn tournie ball on, but unless they are upgraded with parts such as a WAS board, ndz LPR, ndz RIP valve, ndz hammer assembly they can only do up to about 15bps.
Hope this helps you a bit, if you'd like some advice on choosing one then catch me on pm.
agree with all of it
I started out with a vision impy & to be honest it was extremely reliable but in the end I had a few problems with it & was glad to get rid of it. I got an 05 Speed & the difference was very noticeable in the weight & performance ie: faster, & doesnt chop/barrel burst half as much.
Impy advantages:
*upgradeable
*not too much maintenance eg just oiling bolt & replacing o-rings
*simple to use
*at the moment, cheap as chips: rock bottom prices now, so whatever you pay now, it can't depreciate any more, whereas mine dropped like a stone & I made a loss
Impy disadvantages:
*stock, you have to spend a lot of money on them to get them up to a good tourney standard & like Nickyboy said if you havent got a WAS/I-frame etc then you need to add these or else it will just not keep up
*heavy, & boxy, a bit ugly if not milled
*support & parts are from SP need I say more!
a better starter marker for about the same might be an ion, or another 2nd hand marker like an older Timmy, or an Angel.
Buying a 2nd hand, already upped marker will save you the time, effort & money on upping the impulse.
