what style bolt? some bolts need lube, others don't.
did he have enough pressure? if its the last game he may have just been runnin on empty.
was his breech simply gunked up beyond comprehension?
check the link^^^.

I am sure that Quayler

Had the same problem at STR, and it was the hammer assembly had broken. Check that, and you might have a small snake trapped in the chamber, which would explain the hissing.

have you lubed EVERYTHING?!
is the valve spring too tight in tension?
is the insert in the barrell trapping the bolt?

Alot of Impulse's do this, and it is a standard problem now!

All it is, the Impulse requires blow back (air rebounding off the ball) to get the bolt to recock and in fact the whole gun to cycle properly!

If anyone read the manuals (not many do) then they would know that its not a good idea to continiously dry fire it for this reason!

It just that the bolt goes forward then the hammer stays forward pushing on the valve, keeping it open!

Getting a tapeworm will cure this and give a higher ROF at the same time!

In Impulse's, its all about balancing... balancing air pressures, balancing internals etc.
