Impule was questions

Ill be ordering a was board for my imp end of this week but i got a few niggly questions about it.
1. The site says that it doesnt come with firmware due to frequent changes but when i go to the 'download software' section the latest version isnt available for download. Do i assume it will have version 2.0(latest) on the board or will i be stuck with v1.5?
2. which eye mode is better/faster/more reliable. Would it be the one that looks for the bolt position. Or is it the one that looks for paint in the breach?
3. I have a black strange bolt so ideally i would have to use the eye mode that looks for paint. But in the event that the other mode is better i need a IR reflective bolt does that mean that i just have to get a white bolt?
Thanks guys.

  1. It doesn't come with PC software due to frequent changes. A board with no firmware would be useless. It will come with the latest firmware version (v2.0, which is the only version on release boards.)
  2. Both modes looks for paint in the breach. That's the the eye is for. Which mode you should use depends on your bolt. Without air or paint, switch the gun on in any eye mode. Push the bolt forward. If the green LED starts flickering when the bolt covers the eye, use "reflective" mode. If not, use "non-reflective" mode and set the ROF cap to a sensible number (around 20-25.) Black Strange bolts need non-reflective mode, I think.
  3. Unless you can pull the trigger faster than the pneumatics can cycle (unlikely) neither mode is better than the other; all that changes is how the gun determines when it has fully cycled. With a reflective bolt, it can see when the bolt has retracted; with a non-reflective bolt it can't so has to rely on the ROF cap. If you used a reflective bolt in non-reflective mode it is possible the eye would see the bolt and think it was paint, and cause misfires. Unless you can shoot over 20bps this is all academic - use the mode that matches your bolt.

The main thing is that you are getting the board!!

I have set mine up today with spec as follows:

Dwell - stock
Debounce - 2
Eye mode - 1 (vodoo black bolt)
Ball in place delay - 5 (using evolution 2 y-board)
Rate of fire - Max
Eye sensitivity - 12

Using an Armageddon 2004 set at 400psi with a Custom Products
reg set at 180psi into the marker.

- Smart parts lpr
- I frame
- Delrin bolt

As you can see there are not a huge amount of internal upgrades such as; hammer assembly, uprated valve and better ball detents. The board itself improves the impulse no end!

The marker out shoots the hopper and is in need of a Halo!
and the was board makes the impulse as fast as almost any marker available

See you soon Joe. Look forward to starting a new team with you / Shaun.

Ive got no internal ups either but i do have a reloader-b so feeding it isnt a problem my main concern is reliability. My cocker eye always detects paint but the my imp vision isnt as reliable. Just thought that if i was to change my bolt to a white one would i then be able to use the reflective mode which according to WAS will detect paint and bolt position rather than just paint and make a chop that little bit less likely to happen. Would it be worth getting a different coloured bolt for that extra peace of mind?

The eye on the was board is 10x batter than that on the vision. It does however seem to miss some shades of black.

The way I understand the bolt mode to work, is that the eye can be confused by a reflective bolt, meaning a non reflective bolt is the better option.

Feel free to try my Impy before you make your decision.
