OK, it is incredibly tricky to change a hammer on an impulse, basically because that hammer is on there to stay as far as SP are concerned.
You need to heat the end of the hammer (where the shaft joins the hammer head) and twist like hell. It takes time to break the loctite on the hammer, beware when heating, not to ruin the rubber washer seal at the base of the piston (stops the hammer bumping into the hammer cylinder).
You need to take some sort of towel material and grip both the hammer and piston and twist. You can hold the piston by taking the cap off the end of the hammer cylinder (large black piece with the o-rings) and look inside you will see the piston with an allen key type head on it. Place an allen key in it and hold that static while twisting the hammer and applying heat.
It is hard, and is best if you get a qualified Impulse tech to do it for you.
