Ive been paintballing 5 or 6 times, but always in the big medium-ranked matches. What is it like transitioning from big all-out matches to speed ball? I have a Spyder E99, which i think is more suited for speedball, so i wanted to know.

One of the biggest differences is you will not have time to camp out like you can in woods ball, you have to be very aware of your surroundings and be able to make good decisions in split seconds.
Plus the rush totally beats woods ball! I started in the woods with a jt excellerator. then a bladed cocker, then went on to tourney with the cocker then impulse, G7, DM5, 06 speed.
As long as your marker will fire paint as quick as you pull the trigger you will be ok, but a word of warning. When you see other tourney ballers gats with all their custom bells and whistles you will want and start on long downward spiral into "GUN-WHORE-DOM". You'll love it!!

"GUN-WHORE-DOM".

That's gotta be a real word, cos i'm there baby !:D

(one other consideration is that you won't get CO2 at a tournament as we all run on air);)

Another thing to be aware of is that EVERYONE has an opinion as to what is best, how to do this/that/the other. It's good to attach a crap-filter when speaking to people about it as people bound around so many confusing and often contradictory ideas. (not aimed at that chaps above btw).

Try it out though, see if there is a friendly team your way you can go training with or go and watch an event to see what you think. But yes, as ladyboy said, it is a great rush!

Gun-whore-dom

Hi, my names Graeme and I'm a gun whore! At least i think i am! Well the fact that i've bought 3 markers in past 2 months suggests i am! They are right though, i was using VL orion as starter marker, bought Jt excellerator as upgrade to that, signed up to local league, thought i was gonna get outgunned so bought a DM3 matrix (23 balls per sec) And when i turned up rest of teams using site infernos!!!! Oh well!
Just have to keep from slippery slope as long as poss

Yeah, my friend speedballs all the time, and i was just wondering because im gonna be goin with him pretty soon. I think woods ball is really fun, but judging from what the rest of the world thinks, speedball is better

Get to a tournament and watch, believe me you will instantly fall in love with it. If you can get there this Sunday, the Masters will be on up North and the 2nd Leg of the SW NSPL is on the weekend after. Get to one and dont feel shy, ask questions, most paintballers will be happy to help, but as Neal says dont take any bull! ;)

My advice: enjoy woodsball as long as possible. You can seldom go back to holding hands with a girl, and woodsball is holding hands- sweet, kinda innocent, and less complicated.

I like tournament paintball far better. I find competition more of a thrill. I also think that figuring out what is important then learning to do the right thing is more satisfying. It isn't for everyone, though.

Plus you dont have to worry about the kids, aka your team-mates...

As this guy is in "Cali" as in -fornia I don't think a trip "Up North" is a viable option:D ;)
