I have the deluxe freak with several backs for my different markers. I always shoot the same paint though so i tend to use mainly 1 occassionally a second insert.

Buy the freak with the insert to match the paint you most often use, then buy more inserts one bigger, one smaller as you can afford it.

Or buy a boomstick, I love boomsticks.

The advantage of having a Freak is that you can change the insert (and therefore the bore) to suit the size of the paint you're shooting on that day. With a perfect bore match, a high quality one-piece barrel would usually be very fractionally better but the chances of getting that perfect match every time you play are impossible. There's the added advantage of only having to change the back if you change markers as well.
If you can't afford the full set, start off with the barrel and one largish insert e.g. a .689 or .692 then add to your set with time or save up and get the Boremaster kit which has all the inserts except one of your choice (the one you bought with the rest of the barrel of course) plus the carrying case. The case is quite important, as the inserts are rather fragile & can get damaged quite easily.

Weeel well. Just to get things straight:

The boomstick will shoot more accurately with a perfect paint-bore match than the freak. However the Freak can shoot all sorts of paint and therefore always has a perfect paint-bore match. Still the boomstick will outperform the freak if the balls fit perfectly.
But hey, they're both the best barrels out there.

peace all

Why do you say this??
If they both have a perfect bore match(which is impossible because paint varies from brand to brand, case to case, ball to ball) then they are gonna shoot the same.

I've read in another thread that the "adaptation" of the step bore between insert section and tip section was a bit shoddy on the freak. Fact is i've checked mine, and yes sir... there it is, the circle/ring you see from the front side isn't regular:(
Anyone has an idea of how important this is? I've been experiencing some crazy snaking trajectories in my paint shoot. And as far as i know, the bore/paint match is quite nice.

get the whole set as you can never get paint the same size no matter where you get it ,we all have them in the team and they make one hell of a differance especially when the weather cant make up its mind
