Remember, the following stuff is just *my* opinion....try to keep an open mind.....:
Unfortunately, due to lack of team, and lack of funds, I only got to participate in Spectating this Campaign cup...
Turned up for the finals on Sunday, was kinda disappointed in the lack of big *CAMPAIGN CUP THIS WAY* posters, but found the venue. Once I got into the venue, I must say I was well impressed by the layout, and the whole thing looked superb. very professional!
OK, I came along with a couple of players and 3 non-playing spectators, one of which was my girlfriend. I thought it would be nice to show her what my world is like.....
....now, after last years campaign finals, I thought it would be very easy to impress these non-players with the speed, aggression, and flamboyance of our beloved sport, being demonstrated by the star players........
.....WHAT HAPPENED???!!!......even *I* got bored!!, don't get me wrong, it was still interesting to me, because I knew what was going on as a player, but I have to say that from a spectators point of view, most of the finals games were mind numbingly boring to watch!!!
Last year, the finals were fantastic, very fast, lots of movement, and some comedy thrown in for good measure, too....what happened?....I know the fields were alot smaller...was that it?? could that have made *that much* difference??
I'm no expert, but average Joe Public aint gonna be impressed by our sport and we aint never gonna make it big if something isn't done to make it more interesting to watch.....
And before you slate me on this, please remember that, believe it or not, I *am* a player, and I *do* love the sport....and I'm not having a dig at anyone (Niall, you and the gang put on one hell of a show!!!!congrats!), just pointing something out. I've got no doubt whatsoever that the fields all played superbly, and felt good, and stuff.....but to watch??...nah.....
