I have a few Questions about flying with my Kit.

Ok, if you take the regulator out of my tank, so it's basicly an empty bottle, will they let me take it on? Not on the plane as a carry on, but in my luggage. Should I put the regulator in a serparate bag?

And since I obviously cannot take my marker onboard, what if they lose my thousand dollar investment? Am I entitled to any reimburssment?

Has anything changed after sept. 11th? Like, can I bring allen wrenches or are those considered weapons?

Thanks for any advice.

Stick anything paintball related in your check in luggage, don't take it on board.
A good call would be telling the people at the desk what it is you're transporting, and maybe have some magazines ready to prove to them that it's a sport and that you are not training to be the next Timothy McVeigh.
It should be okay to have the regulator and the tank in the same bag, I can't see why that would cause any problems. It is indeed a good plan to have it unscrewed from the tank though, because, and I assume from your post you are aware of this, if the air can't flow freely in and out of the tank, it could explode from the pressure changes at high altitudes. But that's a very big if though. But better safe than sorry.
I think airlines are insured against loosing luggage, so you ought to be able to get your money back should it happen. Knowing how legal formalities work (I work for an insurance company) it may take a looooooong time though. It may be wise to invest in a travel insurance, they aren't very expensive, and a lot of them cover such occurances.

Anyway, where ever you're going, have fun, you ol' California beach bum! :D

Dude, I'm thinking with the recent events (shoe bomb guy) security is just gonna be nuts. Anything that could possibly ressemble a bomb or parts of one are going to be inspected. I'm thinking the way to get your gear to where it needs to be is our friends at UPS or FedEX. I know they are insured and are quite good about movin' stuff around the world. Just curious where ya headed? Happy Holidays Bro

Hey Quick I recently had booked a flight into L.A. and they told me to do what you are already doing! But you know if you want to make sure your stuff goes where you are I would ship it like Smokin' said! That is of course unless you are flying into the UK or any other country! Then it may get a little Pricey! I know for a fact that DHL and UPS ship from US to the UK. Let me know how things go. I am traveling back to the US with my kit soon!

Yup, UPS ships to pretty much anywhere in the world.
It ain't even that expensive. I had some stuff shipped to France (don't ask :D ) once, and it cost me about 75 guilders. The parcel contained 5 markers so shipping your marker plus airtank should be way cheaper than that (I'm assuming you'll take your packs and pods with you in your luggage).
Bear in mind that the price I give you is for a shipment that stayed on one continent (Holland to France), so probably no air freight was involved.
Oh yeah, 75 guilders is about 30 dollars, or 20 pounds.

Hadn't thaught of the shipping option.......nice one.

I'll be trippin up and down the coast, checkin out the spots i love the most! ;)

Well I am going to Norway to spend time with some family, tomorrow night right after I do the whole Xmas thing down here in the states. I think I'm going to pass on taking my kit along with me this time :(

The thing is though, I have a couple of cousins that work for a certain airline, and they can get me tickets anywhere in the world for 4 Cents (2.5p) a mile!! Pretty damn cheap. So this means I'm going to be hitting most of the big games (millennium series, mardi gras, NPPL, JOY MASTERS!!!), even if I don't happen to be playing that day, but hopefully I will.

If I do fly, I think I might take your advice and ship my marker and tank. Seems the safest way to go, I just need a trusty hook up to receive it.

And, Smokin', you're in Nor Cal? What area?

Thanks!!

I'm up in the hills around Chico/Paradise area. Quite nice up here except way too much rain on the weekends lately. I mostly hang out/ play at Dogtown Paintball and sometimes down in Woodland at WAP. Man, I envy the airfare, Hell I'd like to make it just one NPPL this year.
Peace All

Hey Quick if you ever come out to the UK while I am still here you can ship it to me and there would be no international charges me being Air Force and all! Bad thing is you have to ship it USPS Express cause the Air Force doesn't do UPS or should I say UPS won't ship to an APO!
