This year's HB was a mind blower, you would have thought after last year's tournament we might have gotten used to Pure Promotion's ability to put on paintball events.

Imagine approx 50,000 people stuffing their asses into a paintball tourney making the vendor aisles resemble Petticoat Lane on a Sunday morning, it was unbelieveable.
Imagine, ABC, Fox, Arnie Schwarzenegger, strecth limos and so much more festooning the site and you may be able to grasp the atmosphere surrounding this event.

I just hope my article does it justice coz sure as sh1t, this was paintball ramped up yet another level.
Every frikkin vendor I talked to either had a record sale or sold out.

As for my boys, they did us proud again although we didn't get into the finals, we never got one single penalty, they played their hearts out and represented all of us brilliantly.

We played about 65% of what we are able to; when we get it right as we did in the Ton Ton Acyd game (90 secs), Shockwave game (90 second game), Bad Company (2 mins) we can bash anybody.
Every game in the second round was tight, nobody bashed us up, all of them could have gone either way, not much consolation for my boys but it's games like this that tell me a lot about what is needed and the level of our play.
I just have to get them to play consistently and after I got that, we (England) will at last have a team to start competing at the very top.

Well done to the guys from Dynasty, Pure Promotions and Paintball in general, all of them winners at this event.

Thanks to my boys, they are the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HB was amazing. We did pretty crappy our first time out, but had an awesome time. The only gripes I had:

Player passes--I did mine online months ago, and when we got there our team got in line to get our badges. We wait an hour to get up to the front to find out that we were in the wrong line, and the only indication of the pickup line was a small 8.5x11 sign hanging below waist level. When there are 100 or so people already in front of you, there was no way to know what line you were supposed to be in. Once we got through the right line, they told me my pass didn't get finished and they needed me to take a new picture. Alright, show me the camera. Well, in order to do that, I had to wait in ANOTHER line for an hour to do something I already did a month ago. When I go Friday to pick my new pass up, I'm told that they didn't get around to printing them so I should go back Sunday. When I went back Sunday, I was told that they didn't get them printed so they will send it to me. In the end, I paid 35 bucks for something I didn't get and that cost me close to 3 hours of field walking time.

Angel field--On Saturday the Angel field got an hour behind. When we got finished with our game there, we were still on field and were hearing our call for the NPPL field. On our way back to the tent to get more paint, air, etc. we stopped by and told them that the Angel field was behind and that's why we were not there. Before we even got to our tent, we heard a call for Infected to show up immediately or we would forfeit our game. So, we ran our asses off to get back to the field to chrono in. It sucked bad.

Other than that, the event was awesome. So many people that had no idea about paintball were in the stands, and at most of the restaraunts we went to people had heard of what was going on, asked us questions, and some said they really enjoyed watching the event. It was awesome.

The venue was great, the weather was great, the women were stunning, and the competition was great. I can see why everyone called last year's the best paintball tournament ever.

Oh yeah, I got the samurai trigger installed on my Nexus and it is AMAZING.

And one last thing...I was walking along in my blue C4 jersey with my Nexus eBlade and Traumahead Sportz stopped me and said they wanted to interview me--they thought I was a player from Nexus. I told them that if they wanted me to, I could speak in a British accent, but he really wasn't interested. :D

I thought HB was just outstanding. Two things that impressed me the most were the sheer size of it (168 teams compared to 98 last year) and the number of international teams, not just in the pro division but in all divisions. Having teams like the Saints (NZ), United (UK, I think), Scalp (FR), Far East Dragons (JP) and more on my field was a pretty good indication of how this sport has grown in the last few years.

I'm a little biased but I thought the judging was pretty damn good. The tower position and giving more of the refs radios really helped control the game, especially those quick and brutal bunkerings where people start running around screaming "I shot him first" :D I thought the refs on the JT field kicked major ass, but like I said I'm biased. Big ups to all the refs in general but especially all my refs on the JT field. Sorry for being such a pain in the ass ;) :p

Other good parts - the new surface worked well. By Friday afternoon teams were sliding all over the place. Also, the new netting system was pretty cool. I doubt if many people realized it, but NPPL used a new netting system that's designed to be put up without having to sink big poles into the ground. This opens up venues like stadiums and parks that don't want holes drilled in their ground. Mile High Stadium, here we come!

Knobbs - I know how you feel about the IDs. Refs didn't get their IDs either. Not that big a deal but annoying to stand in line for the picture, then not get the ID.

Other than the IDs, I thought the scheduling could have been a little better. They were trying to squeeze in 30 more teams than they planned on, so I knew going in that the schedule was going to be rough.
