I have been told about a Air Cylinder that fits straight onto a standard bottom line for a mag. It comes from Air America and apparently AGD Europe can import them in. But I'm sure there is a European standard that make them illegal. Something about the Americans have a DOT standard and Europe had HSE or the otherway round. Can someone explain this to me and what are the implications of importing an air bottle. It's an Air America Mellee.

I know it's not the right forum, but does anyone have one second hand that they want to part with for cash.

There are several screw in preset air systems - the melee isn't the only one that will work.

From memory (and prolly wrong) Centreflag, PMI and Nitroduck all do screw in pre-sets.

And DOT bottles should only be used by foreigners visiting the UK, it's not illegal as such that you'll be thrown in jail but sites have a right to refuse to fill it as it isn't tested to uk (HSE) reg's

I have mailed planet to see what they advise. I mean they have a Luxfer 1.1ltr Kevlar Bottle HSE 3000psi for just 85 quid which is great but what to I need to go with it. A Mag has it's own Regulator so I don't think I need one, so do I just need something like a dump valve. I'm getting a bit confused here

HSE/DOT

I don`t know if this helps but my local dive shop/bottle test shop examined both my Flatline and Melee bottles on purchase and are quite happy with and can test them when due.Its quite a muddy subject and could stand a bit of research(UKPSF?)

no construction difference, just different testing procedure before type approval given, HSE test more tanks to destruction so hence the supposed higher rating either way as I and many others have posted in LOTS of previous threads HSE legal (for use in this country (UK) ) DOT illegal for use in this country (unless you are a visitor or a non resident user)

UKPSF have already gone down the route as far as it can be at this point....so quite simply if you live in the UK don't buy american tanks (DOT) buy british (HSE) and this is nothing to do with saying british is better, only british is LEGAL for use here.

This type of thread has been covered so many times. Does no-one ever go past the page one of the threads in the forum page? cos that was one of the bonus features of this new forum. It would save so much time if this was actually done, hell even use the search facility...its just like a search engine you will find on any main ISP server.
