Can someone please tell me what the situation is with the "old" HSE tested bottles.
Am I correct in the following.....

When you bought your bottle, it had a "life span" of 15 years. and every 3 or 5 years you had to have it re-tested to HSE standards. If it failed, it was destroyed, or when it gets to 15 years old, again, it gets destroyed.
If it passes, you can use it up to 15 years from when it was "born".

That right?

Now, we have a new CE standard bottle and test. You should only be able to buy a "new" bottle with the CE test.

If my HSE bottle is in test, can we still get then filled at a tourny?

When its current test runs out, can i still get it tested to the "old" HSE standard(up till its 15yr). Or do they now get the new CE test? Or do i have to replace the bottle when its current test runs out?

There seems a lot of confusion about this issue, can the mods please put a "sticky" up with the correct info....Thanks

Im pretty sure that all HSE bottles can be restested to HSE again until the lifetime of the bottle runs out. I think that no one is making HSE bottles anymore so in 15 yrs time all bottles in the UK and europe should be CE.

edit: opps missed sum stuff out der

if your HSE bottle is still in test then you can still get it filled

I have heard the same thing from someone that has spoken to trading standards on the matter. HSE bottles can still be tested and used to HSE, until their HSE lifetime (15 years) expires.

However, all new bottles should be CE - I was told that it is an offence for them to be sold to you now, however, I know some trade stands at events and presumably some web shops are still selling new HSE bottles.

I would suggest if you buy one new, make sure it's CE, otherwise don't worry about it.

Yup, don't buy an HSE bottle now. There's always the chance that some nasty eurocrat will come along and ban them from european tourneys at a later stage.

However the hse life span still stands, the bottle can be retested until its working life expires.
