are all hpa reg/bottle threads the same,ie can you unsrew a reg from your bottle and change it to another make of bottle

If you mean reg to bottle threads then nope - they aren't
They should be, but I've seen a few bottles that wouldn't screw onto regs, mailnly because the regs threaded bit was too long or short for the ones on the bottle.
For instance I once tried to put a "generic" bottle on an AIR and it just wouldn't go, slap on the WDP bottle and it's works like a charm.
I think Phillip is thinking of the Fill adapter - which is different on the gov'nair.

Govn'air also uses a different threading for the reg/bottle joint. It's somewhat thicker than 'standard'.

As for the others - I have no idea why they are different or how many don't fit the "standard" and there will be many combinations that will work. All I can say is I've tried swapping bottles and regs around and have had a few instances when it didn't work.
