HP vs LP Reg + Geo

Echowitch

I have a Draxxus 68CU 4500PSI bottle with a low pressure reg, (I ordered a high but they sent one with a low pressure reg.) Im using it with a Geo.

Just wondering if having the high pressure reg would improve my air consumption, or increase the amount of air used in each shot. I play back and the Super5ives only has a 3k fill maximum so after one hopper and 3 pots Im out of air.

As the Geo regulator is downstream of the air bottle regulator, it'll be the Geo reg taking care
of the actual input into the marker. Spool valves, such as the Geo, are usually more gas-hungry
than poppet valved-markers. Are there any leaks somewhere on the marker? If not, try either tuning the Geo to reduce air consumption, or pulling the trigger less often.

As Shwat says, get the low pressure spring. You're probably getting drop off with your current setup. Your air consumption would be the same regardless of using a high/low pressure tank.

The high pressure tanks work better as it means the reg on the marker is doing its job.......so getting the LP spring will give you better shot to shot consistency as it is specifically built to regulate that level of incoming pressure from the LP tank reg.

Wind the VVC all the way in for better efficiency. If you've not got the ST kit in there, and its well broken in, you can always lower your dwell to around 9 as well.......even as low as 8 in some cases.

Truth to be told is that the Geo reg doesn't recharge fast enough with LP input, hence the retro-fit spring kit, alternately, you can change the output of the DXS reg with their HP spring kit. Or replacing the fore-grip reg with a CP reg or similar. Either way, gas consumption shouldn't be effected, that is, as suggested, more likely down to your dwell setting as well as other 'in gun' factors, including the quality and consistency of your paint and the paint to bore match.

how many pots are people normally getting through on a geo on a 3k fill? 3 and a hopper does seem a little low to me?
