Just call me Sicknote

Another win for the Shock guys, and yes I only played a handful of games on the first day, and then went to the hospital with suspected appendisitis, the guys looked after me though
Bit scary to be in Poland with that sort of stuff going on
Still cheered the boys on the next afternoon, watching them play all the final games, the break and game against Worms in the final game sealed the tourny, the worms looking pretty unstoppable till the final game when we took 3 on the break, up until that point the worms were playing really aggressive paintball showing lots of movement
Pretty hard to move though when you lose 3 players

Peace

Well well Shock was really lucky I have to tell that!! The two Worms guys were holding up 4 Shock players for a good 5 minutes. It was really tense and everybody waited for the UK boys to make a move but time went by and they won by 6 points.
Worms were really on the roll BTW losing one player in the WHOLE preliminary rounds. I got the Joy Division vs. Worms game on VHS and I have to tell you the Frenchies tore a new one on the US reinforced Joy Division. FREAKY!!! They are Pro material for sure.

At the first day there were major problems with the schedule since the first games were delayed about an hour. Pople were running from game to game because the ever collapsing diablo field but its more or less the fault of the Adrenaline guys not the organizers...

On the other hand the accomodation facilities were hmmm how to say that?? Yes!! "A Homeless Shelter" phrase was used quite often for 35 $ a night/head you expect a half decent hotel but it was really horribile... (no heating, TV, and the bathroom....)

The fields were great except the Diablo one since there was many games where the center Huge-Diablo-Faced-Gate collapsed mid-game. Suprise suprise! I think the Adrenaline guys should rethink the "battery supplied fan" idea....

Reffing was correct I've seen only one major argument over a bunker move but mostly thats all...

Soo the whole thing was O.K but they MUST work on the HOTEL part....

p.s: Hereby I would like to thank the a$$hole who decided to retime his cocker at half past one at night!! I hope the neighbors kicked his a$$

Sounds to me like shock knew that they had it in the bag and just locked the win up - what would you do in their place??

I would settle for the headcount win!!

As for hotels - I here some guys stayed in fantastic hotels for around $50 a night. It's still eastern europe dude - pay more - get more.

Polish open was very fun and a very nice tourney.
And the hotel we where in is perfect!
I had like 4 hours sleep in 3 days.
Shockwave played very good and beated us 2 times and Worms played awesome. We didnt have any yankees in the team as someone here said. As a matter a fact we had 2 players that never left the hotel :) We also had a new guy that have played for 6 month. I think he will be awesome in 2-3 years.
Anyway I want to thank the Polish open for a fun weekend and thanks Shockwave for a good time.

Yup they went for the safest solution... wich is interesting because the Worms are amateur and the almighty Shockwawe is pro.
But to be honest the Shock guys were in different position since the two remaining Worms guys locked all the angles. There wasnt a solution to the situation without a loss and Shock knew that.

Fantastic hotels?? Dude you cannot imagine!! The organisers listed two hotels on the page and both of them sucked hairy donkey balls!!
And for the record in 2000 the same hotels costed half the price at the same date. the entry fee was the half also and it was in the same place.

Funny thing that the TonTons haven't made it to the finals. Its strange since I saw their games (when I wasn't playing) and they basically just mowed everyone on the way to the flag. And the Joy Division wasnt on the top either wich is funny since they were playing with US guys in the team. (GZ, Ironmen etc..)

The interesting tendencies were (at least for me) that lot of the relatively unknown teams gave serious hard times for the Pro's. The Amateur teams starting to grow on the Pros but the sad thing that without enough sponsor backing they never gonna be able to compete on the Pro level. And sponsors have limited budget so talent will be wasted...

US/Yank Players in Poland

Mr Acsik -
You can rest assured there were no players from the US who got onto airplanes and flew out of the US that week. There were no US players at the Polish Open.

I had plans and airline tickets for the trip. Leaving the States on a plane wasn't an option. There were several others with tickets to fly out of JFK (New York City) to Warsaw. Obviously, that was not something that took place.

I can understand you effort to preach how the amateur teams are gaining quickly on the pros. I agree. And i think it is great for the sport. But, you should refrain from adding things that are simply untrue in an effort to bolster your claims. It isn't needed. The facts do a good enough job. The untruths hurt your argument.

The Worms are a great team. They beat my team Image in Portugal and the team was comprised only of "US pro players". They don't need extra evidence in proving they are good. Their talent and abilities show on it's own merit.

I don't mean to imply that having US players would have changed the outcome of any game in Europe. I simply don't like people misleading others. And it cheapens the viewed talent of teams like Joy Division with implications that an appearance in the finals had to be bolstered by US players. It also cheapens the accomplishments of the Worms by showing intent to hype up what appears to have been a great tournament for them with false information.

Just my piece,
Lane
