Hi all, so I set up a paintballing society last September at my university http://www.lupaintballing.co.uk

It has been quite successful at getting members to go to the local site and play a game at the weekend every so often but this year only a couple have stumped up the cash to get their own gear.

We are looking at going to some scenario events on the Bring a Mate schemes that some do but just wondering if any of you guys have any other ideas on how to get the members into the sport more seriously?

getting people into paintball is getting harder and harder an people see the 1st payment to get there own gear is quite high (if there getting it new) and as a Marshall i see it nearly every weekend people turning up to the field with there own kit playing a few days then we NEVER see them again as the price of them renting the gear is only abit more then when they have there own gear so for what they have just payed out for a goodISH set up they will have to go about 20 times just to get the return on there stuff other wise it was a waste paying out !!!!

well yea sites offering electro markers if you pay more would be a good option especially for those wanting to try walk-ons but that's for another thread, delta force currently do a similar thing but the upped gun is a bravo i think and the marshall said is exactly the same just looks better

I want to look at how to get these punters into the sport more seriously and have them get involved in the sport more

They could all get a cheap set up of an Ion, air tank, grav hopper and a half decent mask for a little over £100...
I'm sure this is a lot less than they thought it would be, and playing would be cheaper. If they played as a walk-on just twice a month, in 3 or so months there kit would have been paid for in savings they made from not playing as a punter.
When I played rental, I usually spent about £50 a time, this included about 600-800 paintballs or so. I now only pay approx £25 a time (I only use 1/2 box of paint, so I use other half next time and just pay green fee) which means i'm saving, technically over £25 every time I play, as I get 200-400 extra paintballs - If that makes sense.
So, they save £25 a time, and they spend... Lets say £125 on a basic kit. After just 2 1/2 months of playing every other week, their kit has paid for itself, and i'm sure they will have a lot better experiences than if they were playing as rentals.
Just my 2p :)
