My Vision eye has stopped working. The only way to fix it is to hold my finger pressed against the back of it while the black cover is off. I've noticed that the legs of the black eye module can move backwards and forwards thru the orange ribbon cable so I think the solder joint has gone. Is there any thing specil about the joint or can I just re solder it back on. Failing that does anybody know how much a new eye and cable costs?

i tired to resolder one of mine once. couldn't make it stick, i think a lot of times when the solder breaks it takes the metal pads from the ribbon with it. meaning that it won't solder back. so you'd need a new one. go ahead and try it cos yours may have broken in a different way to mine.

give the contacts a good clean first and tin them (coat in solder) to help it stick, im guessing a low temp soldering iron would be a good idea too if you are reasonably experience with soldering you should be ok....im used to reworking surface mount stuff in mobile phones tho so maybe i make it sound easy:rolleyes:

id do as paul recommends and try sp first, if they wanna give you a free one let em....then id try to repair the old one anyway as a spare. even if you have to buy one i cant see them costing much as there is nothing to em as a comparison an eblade eye is about £25 and that is pritty much the same thing (and that includes the cover and fittings as well)

Its damn near impossible to bugger anything as simple as that, and if he's gonna get charged anyway he may as well have a go.

OK tried soldering the bloody thing with no success, you really do need a prescision iron. It's definatley the eye because if I short out the pins with something metal between shots it will fire ok.

Called SP it's cost me £35!!!!!!!!! to buy a new one (that's including VAT and P&P). The problem is I can't get the screw off that holds the ribbon cable in. What size hex key do I need and where can I get one that small from. Can someone borrow me one please I promise to send it back. :)
