I was just wondering how many of us there are.

I suppose it depends on how you define paintballer.

- 1 off rental player,
- Some one with their own kit,
- tourney player,
etc.

I was thinking you could add up the number of teams that play each series, but some play more than one series or come and go from events through out the season.

A saucer of milk over here please!

Well, I know my cow-orkers can't quite believe there are enough of us to make 32 teams at a domestic tourney. And they just can't get their head around 200 teams at a major event. ("What, like a thousand people, all with their own guns 'n ****?")

You know, there really ought to be some national registration system which would help you answer that question ;)

If you're talking about players with their own kit who are currently active - i.e. play more than 3 times a year - I would estimate somewhere in the region of 3,000 people.

**** all, basically!

Ahhh...Baca you really are a very funny guy...no really :) Haven't laughed so much in ages...to quote Edmund Blackadder..."praise the Lord I wore my corset for I fear I have split my sides with laughter"...

Is that subscribers in the US? or in the UK? :)

To answer your Steve's original question, UKPSF stats indicate somewhere around 600,000 people play rec-ball in the UK each year. Regular tourney players, and by regular we mean play 5 or more tourneys a year you're looking at somewhere betwen 1,500 and 2,000 and that's a fairly generous estimate. When you're looking at players who play more than 10 tourneys a year the figure drops.

The in-between bracket is harder to judge as there's no real "walk-on" market in the UK. There are a lot of people who do buy their own gear but then don't use it very often. The scenario game market is increasing in popularity but isn't really well established or stable enough to give any real figures as yet, but I figure based on turn out at sites that do run walk-on's and attendance at the "big" games, you're looking at another couple of thousand.
