Hi everybody.

Was cruising ebay the other week and saw 2 gats, a timmy and a DM5 up for auction (1 day listing). Had a nose around, but text said "contact me at blah@rubbish.com or something, cos i won't reply through ebay".
Couldn't see anything the next day so thought no more of it.
Lo and behold, the same adverts are back up today, only under a different username!
Wasn't thinking of bidding myself, but some people have, and just wondered what y'all thought of it.
(Soz if this has been mentioned before mods, searched and didn't find...)

This is quite possibly because you can't sell guns on eBay anymore so auctions are taken down by their people pretty quickly hence why the guy said to contact him via email rather than through eBay. I would imagine people who put guns up for sale in blatant violation of eBay's rules probably have their accounts frozen thus explaining the change of account names. Doesn't sound massively dodgy.

It's also a classic way of people scamming money because you are taking the auction out of eBay and their protection. It's often a way that is used when accounts are hacked and people list stuff under your name and then use the email address for people to contact them and give them money before sending them nothing in return.

Definately a scam!!

the way it works is:
firstly the seller has a made up address (usually in london), they then tell you to e-mail them because they dont want to go through ebay and pay their charges..
they give you an irresistable price so you cant refuse, then asking you to send payment via western union. and tell you to put a password on it!
(when money is sent via western union to another country, you can put a password on it so that only a person giving that password on the other end can collect payment., if money is sent from the uk to the uk no password can be added)
they then tell you to e-mail them the reciept as proof of payment when you have sent the money, then they can post it out to you.
next they say when you recieve the parcel you can give them the password and they can collect their money.....
by this time they haven't posted anything out and they have already collected the payment because no password is needed..

hope this clears things up
