How do we make it better to watch?

As you may know, we are running some exhibition events with the next one in Blackpool by the pleasure beach on the 1st & 2nd August.

My question is, how do we make tournie ball (in this case XBall) better to watch for the uninitiated members of the public?

Visually, they can only really see 25% of what is happening from where they are standing and we are not going to have multi screen multi camera coverage; so what can be done to help immerse them more in the game?

Obviously we are not going to change the format for Blackpool but I am interested to hear peoples ideas......

As it is xball (and assuming coaching is allowed anyway) could you not have some sort of commentary running over a PA?

I know I have seen you mention this before for people to do this on a casual basis. But how about a few dedicated people that are easily identifiable (and obviously approachable, and can articulate themselves) who can just float around the public and answer any questions they may have?

All good points and for the West Mids Show event we did have commentary running throughout the games which helped. Where the problem lies is when people wander past and have missed the "this is what XBall is about" piece, even if we did keep repeating it.

Having people mixing with the crowd is a good idea and one that we will explore further.

What about the game itself, could we do more to make that better to watch?

How about a few large posters with an abridged version of concept and rules?

Or would it be feasible to set up maybe a single tv with a looping explanation of the rules and concept?

As with a lot of exibition events you could setup an info tent. Displaying some kit, posters with the explanations as mentioned above, possibly DVDs of say NPPL footage or even a lopping visual explanation of the game rules etc? This could be manned by a couple of people (in conjunction with people mixing with the crowd). This way people could have a focal point of where to come for info on what it is all about. Let them hold a gun, explain what kit is used for what etc etc, answer any querys about how they can get into playing :)

Is it worth/feasable for you to create some "Quick guides to X-Ball" notices which could be tied to the netting along the field so that passers by could read up on the basics? Just like you get at the zoo when you are looking at those strange pig shaped hippo horses. :)

If you are having a grandstand type seating area you could even place a larger version on a stand in front of the seating.

Obviously the key would be not letting this block the view of the field...

EDIT: It would appear that Parksy and I have taken up residence in each others heads.

I absolutely concur with the bit about cheerleaders. Is it possible for people to walk all around the field? As in while a match is playing so they can see from different angles?
