hi,

i've been playing woodsball for a few years now. I've just bought myself an axe ready for the summer and want to try some airball/speedball/xball!

so my first question is... What the hell is the difference between these three game types?? are they all the same?

do i need a team to play? like a tournament or are there airball walk ons??

does anyone know where can i play these game types near the peterborough area?

do i need any specific equipment to play eg trousers, jerseys etc?

thank you :)

airball: played on a field of inflatable bunkers. speedball: short range, even playing field, not necessarily with air bunkers. xball: particular 'race to' format consisting of set break times and game times.

tournaments are the most competitive way to experience this and does require you be part of a team. this could be just you jumping in for one event with a team who are needing an extra player. walk ons do exist although i'm not sure how common these are or where they mostly take place down south. the best way to experience this is to attend a training session with a team who are happy to have visitors join in for some games and such. if i remember right, volatile have booked out a full field on monday at cpps and are welcoming anyone and everyone to come play!

not my area of expertise :)

not really, but probably want to avoid things like bulky tactical vests, remote lines and such. mostly because they are not necessary for such short games but you will also get laughed at as well no doubt :)

Bricketwood will be closest I believe mate.

Lots of teams playing there regularly week in week out. Might be worth posting on that thread to find a team that'll let you jump in on the games. Most bigger teams won't have teams in exact divisions of five anyway so you'll be able to have a go :)

Otherwise I'd say start your own thread around the time you want to head down.

As for equpiment, as long as you've got a good, 'tournament ready' marker (which you have), an air bottle and a loader, you're good to go!
Some paintball trousers and a playing jersey would help too (though I often just rock a big long sleeved tee) and any headwear as well as the obvious mask!
