Check it to make sure you can not fire burst mode or full auto (pull the trigger once and it fires more than once). If it can you need to take it to your nearest paintball shop and get these modes deactivated or you risk being thrown off any paintball site you visit. Apparently some of these got through by accident so get it checked first then go to www.ukpsf.com for lists of sites and shops in your area

Your location says Midlands so your nearest major shop I think will be Phoenix, have a look at www.paintballuk.com - they're based at Cannock in south Staffs so may be close enough for you to drop in & ask lots of questions.
But all the places listed in this thread are friendly, and if you explain you're new to the sport will help you to get what's right for you, NOT just try to sell you stuff with the highest profit margin!
Just about all the big shops will be able to sell you paint, and you'll also find that sites that do walk-ons (i.e. days for people with their own kit) tend to sell paint much cheaper than they do to rental customers.

Get yourself to Phoenix in Cannock, good paint is approx £40.00/£45.00/2000.

They run also a site near Hilton Park Services that have regular walk on days.

No idea about the Icon, not seen one but all of these basic markers seem to be about the same.

All standard paintball markers are .68 calibre, so that's the size paint is made in. However, there's usually a bit of variety between batches and as accuracy and velicity consistency is so very important for tournament paintball many people are concerned to get exactly the right fit. If you're just playing about for the moment don't worry as any reasonably wide bore barrel should cope with just about anything out there - we're talking about a couple of thousandths of an inch here - and most "stock" barrels (the ones sold with the markers) are wide bore.

If you're in Coventry, then Phoenix is definitely your best bet. Also, keep your eyes open here for tournaments in the Midlands as both Midlands Masters and S2k3 have rounds in your area. You often get trade stands at these events e.g. Just Paintball (who do lovely Hanger 18 stuff), and you can learn a lot juist by watching others playing.
