Take it to a different post office. When they ask what it is, tell them it's a toy.

Job done.

And don't worry, you won't burn in hell for lying to a Post Office employee.

Hermes are cheap, but they have a terrible reputation - they are known for being good at losing stuff.

Maybe I've been lucky! ;)
Alex, you never know! Maybe all the bad reviews of Hermes are all posted by disgruntled ex-employees...

As for the Post Office, they put the Queen's head on all their s**t, so they MUST be trustworthy. Or am I just living in 1870?

Royal Mail WILL accept paintball guns if sent via Special Delivery. I asked them on Saturday.

MyHermes do not allow guns. However, my wife has sent over 300 packages with them and only 1 never made it - and that was because the big truck crashed and caught on fire and everything inside was destroyed. They paid out ASAP.

Note: Lie or be evasive with the description of the item and you risk losing it, no insurance and in extreme cases liable for a fine or prosecution
(EG it's not a gun it's a marker, sporting goods, toy or ending up with a cylinder turning up on a plane by airmail)

Most of the time you will hear people saying it's got through / they never had any problems
But in some cases thats because policies have changed so it was ok before, in other cases it's because it made it with no major checks. However there is the possibility and there have been cases of people having the goods confiscated
This is very likely if it ends up in airmail (lots of checks happen) or it it comes to someone's attention

Always check the prohibited & restricted lists. Double check the lists for the appropriate type of mail
As wildwayz says, special delivery can be used for paintball guns, normal delivery cannot

The abundance of couriers are the main option for things the main carriers won't take, they undercut the big boys, but in doing so are cutting some corners
People are the problem - a lot of people are underpaid, over worked and have an attitude
Package an item properly and it will survive being thrown around in and out of vans (do people seriously believe wrapping something in brown paper is sufficient to send it across the country in various vans and paying a few £ will make people treasure it on the way?

Package it, declare it, choose the right method of postage with the right level of cover, make sure there is tracking
If it gets there then great, it it gets lost/damaged/left on doorstep then complain and claim
