Pretty simple, take off the hose barbs and pull. Buy some new hose, push it onto the fittings, replace the barbs.

Well in that case it's even easier, follow the steps above, but skip taking the barbs off and putting them back on.

there are 2 sorts some that have a top hat fitting over the hose to clamp it down and the newer sort which dont

*first you need to slide up the top hats, best done by pushing then up from underneath with a screwdriver or a pair of plyers...dont get hold of the main part of the top hat with plyers as you will crush it.
if you dont have top hats on skip that bit
*pull the hose off the barb....this may be hard, especially if you have the type of barbs that use top hats.
replace the hose with new hose, make sure its long enough and not kinked or pulled tight, i always leave em a little long deliberatly. dont forget to put the top hats on the hose before you push the 2nd end on
*replace the top hats

done :)

Ive sent a reply to your PM...if you have an E-Class..you dont have a 3 way..you have a 5way air solonoid!
Old cockers used to have hose clamps on which need to be slid up before you pull them off the barbs...as Jahlad said.

Ive told him to cut the hose off the barbs if he is replacing them, to prevent the barbs being damaged..or is that not likely?

3 way or electronic 5 way, still the same procedure, because they still use the same fittings. His doesn't have the barbs, so no sense confusing him by telling him how to do something that he doesn't have to. Pull the hose off, push it back on.
