help req. removing cocking rod on cocker

as it says guys, recently got a 2nd hand cocker with nexus internals, rex dialer et al. but want to strip and clean and reset the back block position.

but for the life of me cannot unscrew the cocking rod.


any ideas ?

Cloth...mole grips...turn...the rod, not teh knob on the end...

Yep. Or a mousepad and vice grips, will work too. Of course, if you have a stock WGP cocking rod, it should have a hex shape you can just use the old crescent wrench.
