Paint

To b honest mate i dont think u should spray your mask as the chemicals in the paint mite react against the rubber and weaken it? you just as wel save some cash and get yourself a custom set made with the design u want :D

You can only really spray parts of a mask made of rigid plastic, and even then there will be some chipping. The paint won't hold onto events because they are flexible, meaning it will just crack and fall off as you've found.

If you have a look through the pimp mask thread in the vid+pics, somebody has made a set of rising sun events that he painted. You can dig through that and see if he used anything special.

Best way to spray solid masks is use a proper plastic primer, then your colour and then a plastics lacquer, all available from places like halfords for spraying car plastics.

For flexible rubber you can use isoflex primer as a protective top coat. Isoflex primer bonds with rubber surfaces, it's very flexible and hard wearing. B&Q stock it in building supplies as it's a roofing sealant, make sure you get the clear primer as isoflex top coat is black.
