Hi guys,

I have a Guerilla 4500psi HPA with Myth regulator and I wish to sell it, so for postage and air mail, I think I have to remove the regulator from it. The problem is, its never been broken out, so as far as I know it's still loctited in. If anyone has advice on how to remove it safely and not damaging anything, it would be appreciated.

Or to ask another question, when I bought the tank, it came from the UK to Ireland with RoyalMail and with approximately 2-2500psi in it. So it means I can post it with the regulator in the tank but empty, or should I remove it anyway?

Cheers

Can't you just relese the pressure, and then use an allankey down through the top to take it apart.
I know you say it's locktited, but I don't remember having any issues with mine.

I doubt you'd be happy if you bought it and it turned up at your house in pieces.

If you really have to remove the reg from the bottle and you cant just unscrew it when it's completely empty you really need a reg removal tool, basically a socket with notches cut out of it that slides over the reg and around the fill nipple and gauge and burst discs, (the more points of contact it has the better and less chance of damaging anything), you will want to stand the bottle in hot water (not boiling hot ) for 10 mins or so to break the loctite seal and it should then just unscrew, it's easier to stand the bottle reg down in a cup of hot water but then you'll have to dry out the reg afterwards. As for posting it with it on i've no idea but personally i don't think it's a good idea to send pressurised bottles through the post.

I could imagine the recipient would get the dry cleaning bill for the postie's trousers if a burst disk went in transit :)

To clarify, I have no intentions sending it pressurized. It will be emptied completely. I will try the hot water thing or see if someone has the reg removal tool (socket), I've seen that before. If all fails, I can ask the courier if they ship or fly to UK or try to sell it locally.

About the reg in hot water, what if I put something on it (let say "condom")? Or how deep should the water be, If I want to put (stand) the bottle into it?

Thank you all for the answers.

Well the bit you want to get hot is the neck of the bottle, if you have a bit of pressure in the bottle stand it reg down in the water, the pressure should keep the water out of the reg but it wont keep it out of the dial of the gauge as that isn't pressurised, but you'll still have to vent off the remaining pressure before trying to unscrew the reg and that will cool down the bottle and reg rapidly which isn't good.
