I know its a bit of a trek for you but I suggest you get in touch with Syd at the UCZ site next to Trago Mills near Newton Abbot. He is running a great value winter series there with teams drawn on the morning of the event and it is ideal for newer players to meet a variety of other players and get a taste of tournament paintball, the next one is on the 3rd Jan.
He also has a scenario event next Sunday (27th) if that is more your thing.
There are also Wednesday evening and Sunday events in the warmer months, I don't think you'll find a venue with more going on closer than you.
