...tried to start a real northern league...north as in the area of manc to scotland?? and an opposite for the south??

it just seems to me there are a lot of teams travelling a long way to play tournys and wouldnt something like this work better?

what do the rest of you think on this?

myself and my team wil have to be travelling an average of 4 hours to participate in the series 2k5 tournaments next season, are there other teams travelling similar sorts of distances to?
:p

There was once upon a time a northen, southen, & midland paintball leagues but this was 10 man events in the woods also there was a time where any site in the north would hold a one off event but again it was all woodland.

In think the reason being is that more teams are willing to travel to events and there are only a few places that have the right facilities to hold sup air events plus dont you think there is enough tourneys on the events calenders at the moment so who's to say that these would be better attended by teams hell the Clan play all over and have alot further to travel for one event than some teams do for the whole of the year.

So after all that has anyone tried starting a northern event then no its not a viable option due to teams willing to travel and there being far too many series at the mo to warrant even trying to start another series.

Or i could be wrong lol:rolleyes:

hes right though tom even if it didnt clash with another series the teams arent gonna come all the way north to play when next weekend they can go less than 50 miles

i would love it if i didnt have to get up at 4am to get there but i still do as the turnout and tourneys are better down south;)

i was thinkin more along the lines of a paintball revolution :p one northern one southern n one midlands league each

hehe would work well me thinks but as you both said too much hassle to few sites to much money to many well established series' already.

Would love that to happen.
Even if it was Carlisle or something (still 90 miles for us), it beats going all the way to the midlands.

Hence one of the major problems with the UK tournament scene... everybody wants to play in their own back garden.

Remember Storming the Castle. Last round of the S2K2 series held at Witton Castle in Co. Durham. 54 teams... everyone said "Great venue, great tourney... but I wouldn't travel that far North for another one." and some of that was from teams less than 2 hours away.

Right now there isn't enough players or teams in the "Northern" part of the country to sustain it's own seperate league. Hopefully if we can start increasing the number of players coming into the sport the regional attendances will increase and more venues will become available and then maybe the S2K will have the option to include more Northern events.

I'm going to shout out from "the rock" before any of the rest do...

4 hours? We *dream* of four hours to get to a tourney!!! :p

Ferry of at least 2.5 hours (in summer, in good weather) or 4.75 (in winter or bad weather)..And then add about 3 hours for the drive.....
