I think you'll all agree that there's a lot of bollox that comes out of peoples mouths when they're telling you how fast, how accurate, how light, how efficient etc etc there marker is.
The manufacturers don't help either with the spreading of myths about their wonderful products, so has anyone (shop, team, organisation etc) ever done a proper non biased series of tests on the most popular markers?
Maybe in the US?

What Paintball Gear. It's a sister publication of PGi, you're favourite mag.

Good Heavens I hope your not suggestion the PGi staff are liable to bribes or anything.

Well me and Piper are but we're not allowed near kit reviews after the whole Matrix Churchill bung scam.

Correct me if i'm wrong but don't they just do reviews (as in the opinion of the reviewer) rather that factually being able to state that, for example a timmy is more accurate than an ego but the ego was 5bps faster?
reviews are not conclusive tests they are just an opinion however biased or not.

Hmmm, do you know anything about gun / paintball ballistic physics cos i think the answer to those questions lie beyond the gun and require constants such as Ball diameter are flow, barrel etc etc etc

Still, for a bag of sand I'd be happy to say gun X was more accurate than gun Y.

Well i'm no professor "but".......................
This is my whole point, no one that i know of has ever unbiasedly tested anything to do with paintball ! by "test" i mean a controlled enviroment, a measured control paint, a set accuracy range with the gun secured to eliminate operator error, a stable input supply, etc etc etc
It may sound like overkill but who are we meant to believe, manufacturers? shop? bloke in the pub?
It will never happen i know but i thought i'd ask if maybe bored aerodynamics graduates or someone else that didn't have a life had been bothered to try it?
A porsche is faster than a mini.....FACT....it's been tested
Is a Timmy faster than an Ego?.........................................
"depends who you ask, doesn't it"?

+hermitt, i don't think we need to know how out of round a paintball is, more importantly how consistant a batch is?
Balls will never be round but it would be nice to "Factually" know which is consistantly rounder................or do we ask the bloke in the pub again?

Marker Test

Someone should do a propa test.
Use a specific air supply, same barrel kit (just change the back depending on thread), paint from the same batch and indoor.
Indoor testing will provide a controlled enviroment, so come on guys, lets start it off, I'll bring my viking and nitroduck x-treme air sysyem, someone else can supply the venue as my livingroon is only tiny:D, someone else can supply the paint, someone else for the barrel kit and so on n so on.

Whos up for it????

Warpig have come the closest to proper scientific testing. They did comparative tests of hoppers, debunked the open/closed bolt myth, etc. They just don't do enough of that sort of article IMO.
