Halo B vs. eVLutionII vs. 12V Revi w/X-board
I am not American - This thread was pinched!
I've been reading all these posts about the various hoppers out there and after alot of consideration (price being a major factor) I bought an eVLutionII ($65 vs the Halo's $115 - best prices I could find on the web). Well I got my eVlution earlier today and I decided to put it to the test. I was able to borrow a friends Halo B this afternoon and I still have my 12V Revi w/X-board so here's my three way comparision.
First I compared capacity... Here's what I found...
Halo B - 165-170
eVLutionII - 190-195
12V Revi - 180-185
I must say I was surprised to find that the eVLutionII held more than my Revi. I repeated the count by loading the eVLutionII up with 195 paintballs and then filled the Revi with the eVLutionII. It overfilled by 10 paintballs. Also, you should note that both the Halo B and the eVLutionII can work when filled to capacity, the Revi has problems with this and you should always leave a little room inside for the agitator to move the paintballs around (this lowers the effective capacity of the Revi to about 175-180).
Secondly I compared feed rate. I did this by using the visual method (no stop watch or bps meter - simply which one finished faster). First I compare the Halo B to my Revi side by side, to see which one would fill a 140 pod faster (I recruited my son to help perform this test because I didn't have enough hands to do it myself). Obviously the Halo won hands down. The Revi had loads of gaps in its feeding while the Halo B did not.
Then I compared the Halo B to the eVLutionII using the same test. I was very surprised here to find that there was very little difference (the Halo maybe beat the eVLution by 1-2 balls on some tries while ending in a tie on others). I decided to re-do this test but this time I only loaded each loader with exactly 135 paintballs. When I ran this set of trials (5 times altogether) 2 out of 5 times the Halo bobbled the last 1-2 paintballs around before finishing. When this happened the eVLutionII won each time. On 2 of the other tries the Halo B finished 1-2 balls ahead and the two loaders tied once. I ran this another 5 or 6 times with the eVLutionII to see if I could get it to have a problem with the last few balls and I couldn't. It fed down to the very last ball every time without a problem.
Anyway, my conclusion is that my $65 dollars on the eVLutionII was well spent. You may find it ugly but it definitely gets the job done. Obviously, the Halo B gets the job done as well but for me I don't see the difference worth the additional $50. Obviously, it's a matter of personal preference.
Just another note... I did have to sand the hell out of the feed neck to actually get the eVLutionII to fit on my Impulse. I also decided to cut about 1/2 inch off of the neck to get it to sit lower ontop of my Impy.
