my halo seems to work on a single 9v battrie but not on 6xAA's have tryied a new battrie holder still no good any idea anyone

Not sure but think I have a 4 or 6 battery holder you can try next weekend.

Sounds an easy fix but, are you putting the AA's in the right way round.?

if it works of the 9V its probably just the battery holder..

Maplins sell the 6 AA holder for around 50 english pence

changed battrie holder twice now still no joy. new battries, checked to make sure they where the right way round. i am really stumped.

Have you got a voltmeter.?

Check the output of the pack. If its low or non existent, you can check back through the cells to see where the problem lies.

Does the AA pack clip up to a pp3 battery clip. If so make sure the + and - are the right way round.

It may be that you're crushing the connector when you put the AA pack in, those pp3 connectors are crap. Try it outside the halo.
