Apparently the eyes are confused by bright sunlight with the clear-shelled halos - the solution is a piece of electrician's tape around the inner neck (the blue bit) to mask out unwanted light. Certainly not a reason to avoid clear-shelled ones over any other colour.

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Well we've got four clear Halo's, one red and one blue on our team. Only the red one hasn't been returned to planet for serious attention

They basically run with balls already loaded, and over heat the boards, before switching off mid-game!!

I'll let you know how they go on Sunday for their first run since servicing!

Mine's a black-shell, so the eye problem isn't an issue for me. I did have the motor burn out on the 2nd day I was using it, however - it seems like a lot of people had the same problem, and as far as I can tell there was a bad batch of motors in halos produced around the beginning of the year (just after they'd restarted production after the whole BE debacle.)

Once the motor was replaced, it's run like a dream ever since, and I've broken 1 ball out of about 8 cases of paint I've shot through it since then :D So yes, there have been reliability issues, but it's the price you pay for the only loader that can keep up with the current generation of electronic markers.
