Halo B messing about

right, got an 05 Speed, was using it at the Welsh with a Halo B and it was playing silly buggers and chopping paint like nobodys business

i put new batteries in the marker and the Halo: then we discovered it was the Halo not the marker as i used a y-egg and it didnt chop at all, the paint was a little fragile but worked in the egg.

we think that the halo was forcing paint down the feedneck under too much force as it appeared to be shattering in the actual feedneck not in the breech or the barrell.

Later on I turned around one of the batteries in the pack, so less power was getting to the loader, and the problem was solved it appears: no chops no trouble, ran like a dream.

so what is going on?? should i buy a 4 battery pack to replace the 6? is there a problem with the board (obviously not the eyes or positioning as it worked fine later on, with less power)?

I was thinking of getting the V35 or Angry Halo board but would that make the problem worse? I could just leave the battery mod as it is (with one turned around) but when the batteries run low i will have to keep swapping them around, so id rather sort it out for good.

and i have seen reloader boards for sale for cheap would this just upgrade the halo to a reloader? (uses less batteries, doesnt over feed etc?)

thanks

"Angels
Due to the position of the bolt, force feed loaders may place more force on the paintballs inside an angel, than other guns. This does not mean halos and angels are incompatible, but steps must be taken to ensure the paint is not put under too much force.

The soft face bolt by WDP is a great upgrade for older angels that significantly reduces the force placed on paintballs fed from a halo by preventing the balls from rolling back as far, this upgrade is essential if you run a halo on your Angel

The ram must be adjusted to the correct position according to the angel manual

As with many other guns, it is important to have strong ball detents to prevent double feeding of paintballs. Greasing the drivebelt of the halo also helps to reduce the force placed upon paintballs in a halo."

^^^^ off the spitfire website

umm should i have a go at greasing the drive belt? (damn will have to buy some silicone based stuff as love juice is oil based right?)

I think the detents are fine its only a few months old.

anyone got a tech diagram i dont really know where the belt is or how to get to it

To get to the halo drivebelt:

Take the screws out of the halo and separate the two sides from the raceway.

Unscrew the 3 screws in the bottom of the raceway and remove the plastic cover.

There you go just put some grease on your finger and rub it on the belt and wheels.

You will need to use proper silicone grease, oil will not stay on the belt very long.

Make sure your ram is adjusted properly, and snaps in and out with a click.

It doesnt hurt to give the springs in your detents a bit of a tweak, it could just do the trick.

cant help you with anything else, but one thing i can say..

if you put a battery in "the wrong war round" i better mention that can have disasterous consequences...
If you realy need to use a "Quick Fix" Method to reduce power, on site, (although eliminating the problem completely is preferable) either keep a "dead battery" in your kit bag (but this also can cause certain problems..) or get 12 mm piece of round metal rod cut to the same size as an AA battery wrapped with insulation tape.

Possible problems with inserting a battery in an active circuit the wrong way round include :-

1:- Batterys will drain quickly.
2:- Can Damage the PCB & its components (Especially Capacitors)
3:- Will Cause batterys to heat up.
4:- Can cause corrosion on metal parts.

(On a more Serious Note :- )

5:- Can cause Batterys to Leak inside your hopper.

(Verry unlikely but not impossible)

6:- Batterys and/or Components will burn/melt/Catch fire
7:- Batterys have been known to Explode with forced reversion of polarity.
