Calling all you halfblock owners out there. Just wondering if I should buy one. How reliable are they etc,etc . Can you let me know what they're like.

you gotta understand that halfblocks are still cockers.
theres less of a cocking mass so they have less kick than your standard cockers, this also allows the gun to cycle more freely/quicker.
But its still a cocker and if you dont understand how they opperate - i'd steer clear

I'd also like to hear what users have to say about the MQ Valve in combination with a halfblock.
There was a lot of hype around this upgrade, I'm interested to hear performance/speed reports.

You wont get many of those...coz I only supplied 4 to the country...and I dont think, anyone else has one yet...so apart from me, there are 3 others in the country...I might be selling mine actually!
Well, it is blazing fast, very light in weight, and has nearly no kick. I refer to my Fastback cocker with PBX frame and MQvalve... so far as I know, I am the only one outside of PBX with a working frame. I will post pictures of this awesome beast after I get done anodizing it. Efficiency, I am not yet sure of, but I was told to expect slightly better than average cocker efficiency with the MQ. My other Fasty (Eblade 2) has a regular valve (for now). It is nice and quick, and has no problem whatsoever with 15 bps PSP mode. Theoretically, it could cycle a bit faster, but I can't shoot that fast for a whole second.
As for "should you get one;" I'd say yes, if you can, if you like cockers and can work on them. Rob Long (Turtle) and Doc Nickel (Fastback) are hard to get bodies from. Doc, I hear, is out of stock. His Fastback bodies are beautiful, though. I don't know anyone with the Fireball Mountain body, but I trust them as a seller before any of the other makers of halfblock cockers. WGP is releasing a new Black Magic sometime soon that is basically a halfblock, although they left most of the upper receiver in place, sort of like a Catapult or PBX cocker. There is a thread in AC&Q about the new Black magic, incidentally.

mq is really sweet, my friend had 1 from skeet and its really impressive.
lowers the amount of kick quite considerably.
takes along time and a lot of paint to set up though.
i wouldnt get 1 then go to a tourny hoping to get it running in the morning so you can play with it.

Using a turtled Eclipse at the minute, and it's insanely fast....my capt uses an ego, took mine for a rip, and when giving it back said it was every bit as good as the ego.
There's no kick to these things, and the cut down block makes them very, very light. I've E2'd mine and can easily get 14bps readout with no effort at all, and my fingerstroking is pretty clumsy at best
- I've not heard anything about the effect of MQ'ing one, though I imagine it'd mean you're praxctically using an ego in a different form!!
I'd recommend it, if only for the alternative factor..
