Well today i used my Piranha 2k3 for the first time, i had nothing but trouble!

Problems:
-Balls Choping
-Bad accrucacy
-Low distance

I found out earlier that the barrel is tourney grade, so i switched to a smaller tourney grade ball and it didnt chop anymore.
But, i dont know if this was to do with the volcitiy we were really messing around with it but i shoot and it wud go left and right and twirl in the air. A other problem was there were a white solid substance coming out the end of the barrel after every shot.

Whould these upgrades be better?:
-14'' barrel with spiral internals
-Electrical Hopper
-Bottel cover to stop it from frezzing up.

-Thnks

balls chopping...was it meesy in the breech of the gun where the balls actually fall down the feed tube? if not then its not chopping, if it was breaking in you barrel you balls are too big and are getting stuck...if it was messy then possbily it is timne for an electric hopper....

well, they wud get into the brech and they wud shoot and loads of crap wud come out of the end in a spray there were serveral diffrent things. I noticed that everytime they choped or w/e, there was always paint inside my hopper (splated) and maybe some broken balls, when i took the hopper off and looked into the vertical feed there was normal atless 1 ball broken and loads of paint everywere, one time there were a totaly of atless half a dozen balls inside the barrel, as i said i switched to a diffrent ball and it didnt chop. But the accrucy and distance SUCKED! i wud shoot and it wud spin out of control.

agreed, from what you described it was probably chopping due to the paint being way to big for the barrel.
id definatly recomend an agatated hopper especially if your marker is electro.

as for the accuracy....buy a GOOD fluffy stick and polish the barrel as oftern as poss.....at least between games.
also you could do to check the barrel to paint match....unscrew the barrel and drop a ball in by hand....it should JUST hold in the end of the barrel, not to tight and shouldnt roll down on its own

the solid white stuff coming out the end of the barrel is nothing to worry about....its co2 (im assuming you are on co2)......but i would check that the bottle is anti syphoned and that it is the right way up.....if you dont know what im on about then this may be the root of the problem.....ask someone who knows about co2 bottles to check it out for you.

bottle cover wont make any difference at all, but it will stop your bottle getting knocked about so is a godd idea for that reason.

spiral drilling on a barrel makes absolutly NO difference to accuracy etc....what barrel do you have at the mo?

if you need any more help just ask away

Dont start looking at upgrades yet!

A agitated hopper is a must, otherwise you WILL get lots of chops.

If its a brand new gun, it could be that it still has oil from manufacture blowing down the barrel, causing the bad accuracy. Make sure the barrel is clean (wash it through with hot water). Otherwise, the gun might just need breaking in (my friends Spyder gave him tons of trouble the first couple of times, now it works perfect).

PMI stock barrels are some of the best stock barrels you can get, I wouldnt bother getting a new one. I never noticed much/any difference on my Piranha between the 11" stock barrel, and my friends 14" Boomstick. You'd just be wasting money.

As for distance, well read your manual about how to turn up velocity. Did you chrono it? If its shooting at about 260-280, thats about as much distance as you'll get from it. All paintballs at that speed will fly the same distance.

Ive just reread your post. If your messing around with the velocity, that could be your problem. If the gun is running too fast, the balls will start flying all over the place, not to mention breaking in the barrel. That could be your problem. Get a chrono!

By the sounds of it the bore of the barrel has been too small and your balls (oo errr) have been getting stuck in the barrel and breaking.

First thing to try is to make sure the balls go through the barrel properly. Take the barrel off, put a ball in it and attempt to blow it through(blow pipe style). If it don't go through with you blowing it then thre paint is too big for the barrel, and thats your problem.

As for paint flying all over the place, if there is any shell at all, or paint residue after the breaks you had then it will do this. Make sure you clean the barrel out properly after a chop. Run water through it and run a squeegee through it :)

Poor paint can also cause this problem of accuracy. If there paint has not been stored very well and is dimpled or mishaped this can also cause accuracy problems :)

Thnks guys, yea i went home and i run hot water tho all the parts (barrel, vertial feed camber), yes the paint was dimpled and it was very poor, also i was using the site standard hopper as i didnt have the color for my team (color hopper team indentifiers) so i had to change, i also think the balls wernt getting feed into the chamber fast enough.

Another Question: When u have a electro hopper, is the small fan always going round? or do u have to turn it on before a game.

depends on the hoppers so of the newer vl ones just spin all the time and are REALLY annoying
best bet for performance for your cash is to pick up a 2nd hand revvi, preferably one with an x board, should cost you about £25 - £30 on the classified section of this site. they have an infra red eye in them that activates the motor when its needed.

if your local site makes you swap hoppers to suit which team you are on id sujest making your self a couple of hopper cover......get some coloured cloth and some velcro and get sewing so that next time you go you can just bung the right colour on and use your electro hopper....im guessing they will only be using 2 different colours so shouldnt be too hard to make
