I'm getting a new guage and i wondered whether if i were to buy a 3000psi guage (as i am hoping to use air in the future) will this work fine with my current 1200psi CO2 bottle ???????

If it's for use on the asa then yes it will work but Co2 is generally nearer 800psi (can get as low as 300 in the cold with some rapid shooting) and hp air systems put out 800 to 850psi so a 1200psi gauge would be better suited.

If your measuring the output from the tank with the gauge mounted on the asa then yes 1200psi is the right one.

Where do you plan on fitting the gauge?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Do not even think about putting compressed air into a co2 tank. Co2 is stored at about 800PSI whereas Compressed air will be at a minimum of 3000PSI. The tank won't take it and you'll end up killing someone!!

Co2 is stored as a liquid, air is obviously stored as a gas. You can't fill a Co2 with compressed air. You can, however, fill a compressed air tank with Co2, though it's hard to imagine why you'd want to (people used to do it in the shoebox shocker days, because the shockers got terrible efficiency on air, and an 88ci air tank holds a lot of Co2). The pressure that you're measuring on the gun won't change between Co2 and air (not much anyway), Co2 generally outputs at around 800 psi, and most preset air systems output at 800 or 850. A 1200 psi gauge will be more than sufficient for your purposes.
