hi
i was looking at paintball grenade launcher and found a low cost air soft one on airsoftclub.com for about £42 and grenades 6mm for as littel as £12 (i would set up a link but do't know how?) I know rap4 uk do them but are a lot more money but you get what you pay for. has any one uesd a air soft one in paintball game? are they worth using any way?
The launcher itself is effectively the same thing.
M203s rail mount, but AK47 ones clamp to the barrel.
Therefore an airsoft AK47 launcher won't fit a paintball barrel, but a barrel mount can be modded.
Add on to the price the chances of getting import duty charged, but the worry will be getting through customs with the VCRA in place.
I imported an Airsoft AK launcher just as VCRA came into force and had to fill in a declaration. I got it through, but there could be difficulty as it will flag up as airsoft and if deemed to be a RIF by whoever checks it out paintball will not qualify you to import it.
Airsoft 40mm shells are obviously designed for BBs and not paintballs. This could also affect your importing. (I believe the shells are not affected by VCRA but saying you're a paintballer and importing airsoft shells may affect your declaration)
If you want to launch paintballs then you will need different .68" shells.
But if you are looking for noise from unloaded shells, 'smoke screens' from powder, or some form of SABOT launch then airsoft shells could work.
You will also need a 'charger' to fill each shell - either an aerosol can of 'green gas', or CO2 / air using an adaptor to use a 12 gram, or a CO2 / air cylinder.
Having said all that grenade launchers are impractical. They have one shot per shell, and
are not accurate enough to shoot at someone with paint.
If there is a game with special rules then they could be used, (e.g. in the way that americans run anti tank Nerff)
