ok, i have forgotten what the optimum grain for an impulse is, so if anyone could enlighten me that would be great, i think it is around 700, not sure though

the grain is like the weight of all the internals, 1 gram = about 15 grain, and the closer to the optimum it is, the more efficient it is etc

Yes it is. If you go too light you will have performance problems and if your internals are too heavy you will have excessive kick and other issues.
Please keep in mind that these are general guidelines and that for some reason, each Impulse can work and act a little different from the next, so you will need to experiment a little, but these are good guidelines.

yep took jeeves's advice and looked, cheers anyway its 1386, and with my new ND internals coming, it should be 1186

Just remember you still need a nice weight on or around the hammer!
