"Just a bit of information for you Eclipseblade (E1) owners out there! And don’t say we never listen to our customers! Since the launch of E2 we have been inundated with requests from players wanting to know if key parts of the package will be available to current E1 owners in order to “upgrade” their existing set up.
Well, after some deep consideration, we have decided to give you exactly what you’ve been asking for! From late this year, through to the early part of 2005 (exact dates to be announced later!) you will be able to purchase key components of the E2 assembly that can be retrofitted onto the original Eclipseblade E1. However, it is important to point out that the sum of the parts in E2 will always be greater than an E1 with a couple of new parts. The E2 is a completely re-designed product that bar a couple of screws is 100% new and improved. And for that reason it would be virtually impossible to upgrade your E1 to the point where it can be considered identical to E2. There is a lot more to E2 than just a new board, no matter what you have heard.
So what will be available? Well that will depend on demand. The first item you should see will be the New grips in a variety of colours, following this you can certainly expect to see the new solenoid housing and Minifold. There is no doubt that the biggest seller will be the E2 circuit board with the new TT trigger filtering (Anti-Bounce) and extended battery life features, as well as increased adjustability and improved user interface, not to mention the cool-blue LCD display. However, due to the smaller display window of the E1 frame this will take a bit more development time, also expect the retro-boards to have slightly different user interfaces and a smaller visible viewing area. Eventually, and if there is enough demand, we will consider releasing frame and trigger sets. With stronger magnets, modified sear mechanism, larger trigger guard and trigger, and easier access buttonholes.
I have to stress, you are going to have to be a little patient, as getting complete E2s into production is our main priority right now, and with some modifications needed to some of the parts to make them reverse compatible, it is going to be several months before they are going to be available. All I can suggest is to keep a close eye on http://www.planeteclipse.com for regular updates.
And just another little reminder that we are taking back orders now on E2 Frames and also the Eclipse Nexus Directors Cut Cockers (DC2) with E2 frames fitted. So get your name on the back order list today (No payment will be taken until the product is ready to ship). You can place your order on-line at http://www.planeteclipse.com All pre-orders of E2 frames will also receive a Free Eclipse Clamp Belt, Eclipse Trucker Hat and Eclipse T-Shirt worth over $55. We back order list is growing daily so don’t hang around, it’s first come, first served.
Launch date for the E2 Frames is still early September 04 and if you get your name down for a DC2 you are looking at Late September at the moment.
Thanks for everyone’s comments and input. Nicky T is trying to keep the knowledge base on the Planet web site as up to date as possible so check it for the answer to that burning question.
We are listening . . . . . ."
