Hey all,
My appologies for any stupidly noob questions I might ask, whilst I do a lot of paintball in my area, I don't have a great knowledge about certain things, so please bear with me :)

I'm looking at taking PB up as a recreational player, but with the hope that I can join some form of local team, I live in South West England & have been looking around to purchase my kit.

I was hoping I could get some guidance on kit etc & advice on marker maintenance, & anything else I should know when taking up PB properly, documentation etc.

Currently I am looking at the following Kit: ( all from powerball.co.uk)

Inferno Terminator Marker (semi-auto)
Barrel Plug
Gun Oil
Scott Vectra Mask
200 Shot Hopper
P Stock
2 Pot Pouch
2X 100 Shot Pot
12 Oz CO2 Cylinder
JT Bodyguard II Finger Gloves

However, theres probably a whole lot more I need to get to be setup properly & likely I don't understand everything I should.

Any help you can offer would be great, after all, I'm totally new to the idea of owning & maintaining my kit.

Thanx :)

I'll tell you when i know
hi mate,

i've just started to i bought my marker off the class classifieds.

how much you got to spend on kit?

here's a few sites you may want to check out:

www.planeteclipse.com
www.paintballdirect.co.uk
www.justpaintball.co.uk
www.fireflypaintball.co.uk
www.southwestpaintball.co.uk

you may need a bigger pack, just depends on how much paintball you use. may also need a bigger co2 bottle like a 20oz. as i said depends on how much paintball you think you'll use.

where abouts do you live? i live over in Staines.

Inferno Terminator Marker (semi-auto) - good choice but make sure its a T3

Scott Vectra Mask - i would get some JT flex 7's. whatever you get make sure its got thermal lenses.

200 Shot Hopper - you will definatly need an electric hopper like a 12v revy

you will probably need a squeegie

everything else seems ok :D, hope this helps

i'd take a look at the combo deals on

www.planeteclipse.com

i'd get a bigger CO2 cylinder (20oz) at least a 4 pot pack which holds 140 shot pots. As for goggs, Vforce or JT are the way to go, my preference is to the V forces though. As for a marker, i'd go for a spyder sooner than an inferno, particualarly an electro spyder, they are worth the extra cash!!

What Kit..

Think about what you're buying now, and what will you want to upgrade too - can the gun be upgraded in the future etc..

If you buy a second hand autococker now, it can always be upgraded to an electric one in the future, and you can pick up pretty good autocockers cheaply if you're on a tight budget. If you buy a decent hopper now, a viewloader with X board as a minimum, you won't have to buy a new one in the future. I agree with the other point above buy a bigger battle pack at least a 4 x 140 pot holder - 6 if you can afford it, and JT Flex 7 goggles. I'd also go for a bigger bottle a 20oz - again buying these now will mean you don't have to buy again in the future.

Depending on what you've got to spend take a look at the classifieds and e-bay.co.uk - there are some decent bargains on there too.

If you can also try B4 you buy - are you sure you want a terminator?

As a couple of people have said, might be worth looking through the classified section of this site. You will probly get a far better deal. For the money you would pay for a new marker you could get more or less your full kit. Place a wanted add, describe what you want & see what comes up, it isn't going to cost you anything to find out.

I would also want a barrel sock, NOT a bung.
Do you need the P stock? All players I know use the bottem of the bottle as a stock, myself included.
Hope this helps.

Don't just buy your goggles based on what other people say they like. Everyone's face is a different shape, so what is supremely comfortable on one person may be unwearable by another. Try on as many different types of goggles as you can to see how comfortable you find them before buying any.

Find out about any walk on days in your area (days for people with their own kit to play, rather than rental customers) & go down to just hang out for a bit. The people running the day should welcome you (another potential customer for them) and you'll find that just about every player there will be friendly and helpful, with the majority happy to give you all the advice you could want (and more!) and maybe even let you try out their markers to see what you think.:)
