Similar sort of query... if i've got a feed neck that could really easily be cut down and made into a no-neck feed tube how would i go about getting it threaded to screw into the marker?

I reckon engineering company as well. Trouble is you really want a personal recomendation from someone who has used them before.

I should imagine that a prototype engineer would be a better bet as they are used to making one offs and such.
Although we have a ton of CNC machinery etc here it would be ludicrously expensive to set up and run one offs I'm afraid.

the first link you gave there stan seems like a very good option for custom parts.

'Our CNC Milling/Punching machinery and associated CAD/CAM software allows us to import dimensionally accurate Drawing Exchange Files (.DXF) and machine them with minimal tinkering. (What you draw is what you get!)

Alternatively drawings can be supplied to us in any format (yes, even on the dreaded fag packet!), then after acceptance of our quotation, one of our skilled draughtsmen will draw it up on our CAD system and send you a copy for approval before proceeding to manufacture.'

so basically any item that would be feasible could be produced. the one problem, like you say, is the threads as they are unique.

You need a friendly toolmaker, someone perhaps, that sells high pressure fittings.

Try the yellow pages, anyone of the engineers will be able to do it.

As for the feed neck, cut it down, square it off and lend a tap/dye kit to re-thread it.

The feed neck will need to have the thread cut in a lathe, as it may well be too fine to get a die to suit.

mmmm now that sounds like a hint!

ok so say i wanted to have a custom part made, such as a feed neck what would i need, a drawing? a full on cad file? could it be made from an existing feed neck and altered?

im thinking of a couple of prototype parts with the possibility of a limited run of say 50 or so in the future if there is a market

drop me an email

If your looking at prototypes, just a drawing would do. But if like a feed neck there are fine threads, then a body would be helpful to get the threads nice and snug.
If you wanted an existing feed neck shortened, just tell me how much shorter.

if you're going to anodise these parts after, let me know.

Tom.
