Geocaching Help… No it’s nothing to do with the Eclipse GEO….Some of you may have heard of this and some might be scratching their heads. Well in a nut shell it’s a geeky GPS related treasure hunt around the world and something I quite enjoy.. I even took Davey Williamson and Tom Buckley Geocaching at Campaign Cup and they loved it…

Look here if you want any more info… http://www.geocaching.com/

Anyway. For my 40th Birthday in April my friends got me my own Geocache that I can put somewhere and also a Geo coin which is an on-line trackable item (the web site will explain if you’re interested).. Problem is that I use my iphone to Geocache and when planting a Geocache for other people to find it needs to have quite accurate coordinates and I don’t have a GPS unit to do this with… So I’m looking to borrow one if anyone has one that I can use for a week and send back to them… Bit of a strange request I know.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

Get your self a Bluetooth GPS receiver, it will work better than the one on the phone, but still work with it. or if you want a proper toy have a look at the Garmin range of mapping devices

The point is that i don't want to buy one. I know some of the GPS devices are amazing but i only Geocache casual and don't want to drop £250+ on a one use GPS unit (coz after i have planted it i will not use it again). I'd ideally just like to borrow one, if some kind person has one???

Nope it needs to be pin point accurate. Imagine being in the woods and having to look under a bush to find the treasure.. Tom Toms are not that accurate as far as i know.

but the video on the website says that the gps coordinates just take you to the area and then you have to search.

All i know is that someone has put something near the big wind generator here in green park Reading
