I thought I experienced some sort of time-shift yesterday at the Genesis woodland event, without doubt the most fun I have had in a very long time on a paintball field.
We all had eight games and played (time wise) a lot more than we would in twice as many games on any sup-air field.
I know the expected player base for this series was/is older players who remember what proper fun paintball was all about, it was great to see a awful lot of younger players participating in what will become a great success for the organisers behind this rebirth of woodland paintball.
I was asked why I liked woodland paintball so much over the standard Sup-air stuff that’s played everywhere else and while I was thinking of an answer a team mate explained it better than I could.
He has played for years at every level from three man in the woods to world cup sup-air finals, “when you play woodland paintball every single field is different wherever it is and choosing the right end is even a skill, in Sup-air every field is more or less the same and the only thing that tells you where you are is the accent of the refs”.
All of the old school players remember with great affection fields that bring back happy memories ( field one at Koow Doow ) is one of my personal ones, can players even remember the colour of the final field at Campaign last year.
This is a series that will include sites all over the country, it will get much bigger and may even cause a split in paintball itself where quality teams align themselves to a type of paintball rather than a just going to there local sup-air tournament site because that’s what is available.
Well done to all concerned.
