A question to my fellow front players, I was @ training today and their was a certain game where i was on the 50 and my back players got taken and I only had my other front player with me!
now I know that we should cross-up and that s wot we did, but we ended up gettin sqeezed then mugged :(

So wot do u do when the oposition have u by the balls and are cumin in on u fast? Muggin spree?

Mak D ;)

it can depend on how many players your against but first you need to know where all players are. then you need to make sure you have paint in your hopper at all times just incase of a mugger. you should also know all potential routes for muggers.
but you need to be crossing up and if possible to be in stand ups.
and make sure you are both on the tape 50's not in the middle of the field.

Kyle

hope that helps.

this only occurs rarely, and it does come down to where you find yourself when it happens, try and get tapes and play it as if you are back guys on the fifty, lock it down. if you've got a similar number of opponents left then this should work effectively, but if you are playin 5-7 guys then you're lookin more to take points off your opponents or run the clock down.

alternatively, bug out give yourselves some breathing space and play it similarly from further back down the field, work on learning each others game so you both know what to do.

experience is your alie (sp?) so the more your exposed to it, the better prepared you'll be.

i never really like to cross up. it seems like a good thing but i still do it. it is bad to the extent that if the other team reconizes it then you are screwed. screwed to the point that they know all they have to do now is just pin the other guy in and then bunker the guy with his back turned.

what i do is when i cross up i look over every 10 secs no less no more then 15 secs. and it is just a glance. yes the likelyhood of you actually seeing a person coming or during a run is slim. but slim doesnt mean the chance is zero. communcation is key. if you both players are on opposite sides of the field this is not a great thing. in any other situation i would like said before, cover the tapes. but i suggest not moving until one of there players is gone. loosing a player is a distraction. everyone calls it out. so make a move as soon as you can pin someone in after shooting out one of theres.

i really never really felt comftorable crossing up until i learned how to communicate extremely well. b/c if my guy says he is being pinched, i instantly look for a runner.

i dont want to type a whole lot but little late. and this is the cut version

Man, whatever the situation is, if ur in the 50s at the center and u have no back players be ready for a mugging. Being in the center, especially behind a huge 50, ur setting up a blind spot that the other team will whore to the full sense of the word, regardless of whether or not u have a full team. Now, obviously, if there is a weakness in their team, like a back player/front player gone from one of ur tapes then it kinda ups ur chances, because it makes it slightly easier to guess which side of the field offensive moves will be played.

The simple fact remains though, if u get into that kinda situation there IS nothing u can do but wait for a mugging (Because of the ludicrous blind spot). Personally, I would go off on a spree and go down in glory, rather than a bitch at the mercy of a mugger.

Front players in 50s rely soley on back players to tell them where the players are and stop any moves being made on them. If thy are taken out its pretty much game over.

Something which helps with these situations (i think) is imagine that ur on the other team: You've taken out their back players and there are 2 guys in the 50, how would u get them out. When u know that, u'll know what to look out for.

Man, I'm talkin to ya like ur a stranger!

Mak*D, man.....the 50s ;-)

Umm.. I'm not sure you're correct about that. I saw 2 Dynasty guys eliminate all 7 of the S.C. Ironmen (I think) at campaign by crossing up the field. Similarly I have seen my team (not exactly Dynasty) hold off a team for a long time by crossing up (with one of the guys a total newbie). Don't tell me neither attacking team didn't recognise the crossing up, they did, its just if its done half well its very difficult to break.

You ONLY look cross-field, you don't expose yourself to the opposition, just ensure that to get any closer they must run throgh your line of vision (and thus paint). It is a totally defensive pose, you have to wait for the opposition to expose themselves by moving up.
