freak inserts

Can anyone tell me if the freak inserts sit flush with the end of the barrel back on all barrels?

I have a g7 threaded freak back that i want to cut down and make fit a 06 speed.

so if you cut down a g7 back to 06 spec the insert will hang out of the back.
