WOW!!!:D Check this out guys! I am really psyched about being able to watch these 6 episodes. Is there a Fox Sports in the UK? If not that really sucks because this is going to be kick-a$$. Do you know if there are any other paintball shows or stations that televise paintball tournaments?

Here's a link to the article on the what-when-where of the series.

This opens up a whole new can of worms too. Will paintball make it in the open market? Will the public accept or reject the sport and life we diehards hold so dear? How will everyone respond?

This is a crucial time in the life of paintball as a mainstream sport. To the public paintball is just a baby and to make them think highly of our creation we have to do all the right promotions and events to mainstream it like any other sport.

But the question is: Do we really want to mainstream paintball? I kind of like the feeling I get of belonging to a sport that isn't nearly as widespread as football, soccer, or baseball. It gives the sport a "special" feeling. I think there are probably a lot of people out there that feel this way. I'm not so sure I want everyone I go to school with or see on the street to have played paintball and become a part of our "special" paintball fraternity. I think the amount of people that play right now is just fine.

If we could just organize the sport more then it would have better tournaments and better publicity. This is a must if we do go mainstream, which by the way, is probably inevitable because of the rate of growth the sport has now. The NPPL and Millenium are great concepts, but they really need to take their game to the next level and maybe start more regional leauges that can get a higher percentage of todays paintball players onto teams and into leagues.

I've single handedly pulled my own thread way off topic, but this all should be plenty for you to chew on for now. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say about my ranting and raving and I think that these topics are some of the most important ones we as a sport face right now.

pball- Its true that it may cause a huge influx of people, but with all that people it will definetely have it's perks. More fields and stores will spring up, and with the added competition, lower prices. Plus now that you've been playing for a while, you would be ahead of all of them and you get to call them all newbs =D.

Moresome delight.

More people play= more money into the sport= more opportunities to play the game we love. Simple. Like me.
Don't you hate the 'weekend warrior' misconseption that the general public have of paintball?? TV coverage will change that very quickly. Wouldn't you love to play in front of cameras and lights with people rooting for you to win??
Picture this.
Lights are bright all around you, crowd is screaming, you decide it's now or never. You break out down the tape, bunkering two guys on your way. You get shot. Bummer. You did your job and well. 3 days later, you turn on the TV and there you are being hailed as the man who at the most critical point of the game made a deft move and swung the game, winning it for your team.
Damn it, i would give both my nuts for that.
Yes, there are people out there that will benefit from it, but who cares, we wanna play ball and enjoy our selves before we die. Let them worry about the money making/tournie organising/hair loss etc etc etc. I'm just there to have fun and play hard. Don't get me wrong, i am not that good a player but i am trying.
Every once in a while, when i have time, i organise a big group of punters to go down to a site and shoot eachother. Why?? Because i know that one of them will get bitten by the bug and join our ranks. What have you done to promote our sport?? I say well done to the NPPL and thank you to FOX network. Niall, you owe me five minutes of fame, i think i own shares in that Porche:D

Actually children....

That is my chosen handle due to my fathers involvment in said unit, in retrospect, wouldnt mind showing you a couple things he taught me, Baca. Hotpoint, bringing back Rhodesia would mean removing Mugabe, is that such a bad thing?? You, i know, are a very opinionated person who likes to stir up interesting deliberation hence the name `Hotpoint`. Keep it up man.
Merry x-mas boys and girls, `cept you Baca.
Sorry for the thread jack pballplayer35, but they started it. :D :D

How about removing Mugabe and then Ian recanting on the whole UDI thing?

For the record whilst I am admittedly "a very opinionated person who likes to stir up interesting deliberation" that is not why "Hotpoint" is my forum name. It's also my nickname in real life and has nothing to do with points of view "hot" or otherwise

The origin of my nickname is funnier (and more obscure) than you might think

I object to "they started it"? No Baca started it on his own... I just followed in the Moderators wake :p
