Four Seasons – Hilton Park Question?

There is a question that was raised by a lot of players that day at Hilton Park a few weeks ago, which I think was never really answered. It was great event and I am not blaming anyone just why were all guns cronnie’d after each game took place. Surely this is a security risk.. This is usually done before??
It’s not so much people going out purposely with a hot marker, but there were a few first timers there who needed to be aware of these technical safety facts, and were coming off the field with well over the limit markers. Which is risky for other players as well as them ..surely ? Especially when new players don’t really think about what they are doing.

I may be picky…or is this also the practice in some tourneys?

The choice of when to chrony the markers was left up to the field judges. We could have done them all at the start or at the end. There was no limit on the amount of team members that had to be chronied.

I prefer to be chronied off the field, as its up to the players to ensure that their equipment meets the rules before playing, if it doesnt then just take the penaltys when its over.

We had 2 instances when we chronied players before a game and their markers were over the limit so they had to change markers before the game or go out with no marker.

There was a chrony on each field that was available for each player to check his/her marker before they played or were chronied by the refs, so if in doubt, chrony it before you play.

Some tournys chrony you in mid game (which can be a little off putting) so does it matter when you are chronied? as long as you are chronied.

Hope this helps you out

Yes it does !

Because the main point in chronoing is to ensure the markers are safe for play, theres little point in doing this after the markers have been fired.

They did this on a field at Diablo cup, and my marker was hot - as i was late to the field. Fair enough we got penalty pointed to hell. But surely getting your marker taken off you at the beggining of the game is safer?

Just my thoughts

We was checking players both before and after the game. What the other marshals did, I have no idea. I think what Alien is trying to say is that it's up to the player to make sure that the marker is safe to go onto the field, not the marshal. However, checks must be made and were made.
What did the players think of the marshaling?
